There is a lot of good music available to all levels of Salsa dancers.

Some of the music is suitable for beginners and to practice to, other music you may find is fantastic to listen to, but very difficult to dance to.

Do not get hung up on certain types of music. Salsa is diverse by it's nature and can be found all around the Latin American countries.

In the end, it is all down to personal choice. We personally have a wide range of Latin music, from old school to modern street music.

Listen to as much as you can, but get some slower Salsa or Cha Cha to practice to - it will help make you feel happy and want to dance,

We suggest listening to the likes of Wayne Gorbea, Jimmy Bosch, The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Buena Vista Social Club, Fania All Stars, Ray Baretto, Tito Puente and La Excelencia to name but a few.

Good albums to get your collection started should include the Beginners Guide to Salsa series by DJ Lubi.

Have a look online, or at the World Music sections in your local record stores, and start building your collectoin - some for dancing to, some for listening to, but all to enjoy - perhaps with a glass of Havana Club and a Cuban cigar!!
